Finding the Beauty of HANBOK

1. What is 'Hanbok'?

     'Hanbok' is the tradtional clothing of Korea.


2. When is it worn?

     All of the Koreans used to wear Hanbok daily during the Chosun Dynasty, but nowadays Hanbok is usually worn only on festive days or special anniversaries.


3. What is the characteristics of Hanbok?

     There are several characteristics of Hanbok, but the primary characteristic is its vivid color, and the harmony of straight and curved lines.


4. What is the merit of Hanbok?

     Hanbok is great in concealing one's complex about his/her body. Also, Hanbok is healthy, and easy to put on and take off since it is not skintight. Finally, Hanbok is economical because it can be worn for a long period of time.


5. How does it look like?

 This is special type of Hanbok, which was worn only by the King of Chosun.








     C. Modernized Hanbok



 
Nowadays, Hanbok is modernized into more comfortable and fashionable design.
By strenghtening its merit and supplementing its drawback,
modernized Hanbok is receiving attention globally.

1. Introduction of Hanji.

;  Hanji ( "Han" means the Korean people and "ji" refers to paper.), a paper made by paper mulberry, has become generally known from old times. Hanji has divided depending on colors, sizes, producing areas, etc. According to these divisions, there are about 200 kinds of Hanji. We usually use this paper for write letters, or paintings. Also, we have developed  creative craft skills. Based on these skills, we use Hanji as daily supplies like fan, etc.

 3. The Won Ju Hanji Festival



Won Ju Hanji Festival

There will be a Won Ju Hanji Festival on September 5th to September 9th.You can enjoy a puppet show (puppets that made of Hanji of course), a fashion show (dress made by Hanji),  see prize-winning works (The arts that expressed by Hanji.).
 In addition, you can make things that made by Hanji by yourself.
I'm sure that you'll never regret if you come to this festival!! :) Don't miss this chance~



 


 



Bupyeong Pungmul Festival in Incheon, Korea : Coming SOON!

Bupyeong Pungmul Festival is coming!

This year, Bupyeong Pungmul Festival, which is the largest Pungmul festival in Korea will be held in October. (2013. 10. 18 ~ 2013. 10.20)


Every year, people from various regions and countries come and enjoy this festival together.
Here, you can see Nanta(hitting drums by Korean style), B-boying, and many other performances.
But the most important and interesting thing to see is the Pungmul Performance!


Pungmul refers to the instruments used in farmers' music : the ggwaenggwari, a small gong; the jing, a large gonf; the janggu, a double-headed hourglass-shaped drum; the buk, a barrel drum; the sogo, a small hand drum; and the nallari(taepyeongso), a double-reed woodwood.

Those instruments make a fantastic music and many people could attend in the parade of Pungmul in this festival.

You can not only enjoy Pungmul parade, but you can also experience a lot of things such as making ricecake in traditional way, learning Korean manners, watching how silkworms make silk, making potteries and Korean masks, and so on.

 
 
You may think this is a place only to enjoy Korean culture, however, it's not true.
There are some performances that combined Korean and Western culture.

For example, you can see the performances such as playing western song with Korean instruments, dancing in western style with Korean songs.

Come to Korea in October and enjoy Bupyeon Pungmul Festival!

1. What is the origin of Hangeul?

Hangeul was invented in 1444 by King Sejong and scholar of Jiphyunjun, the place where King and scholar study or discuss. Its original name was 'hunminjungum'. Unlike positive awareness about Hangeul, it firstly was treated in contempt in the past because the novel class people considered and used the Chinese following confusion ideas, or rather the neo confucianism at the time. They thoughts latter of chinese was the best latter. Thus, the Hangeul was mainly used by class of the common people and children and woman.

2. How was it recognized?
When Korea was donated with Japan, Korean starts a movement that suggested to use our language with growth of national consciousness.  Joo si Kyeong, a scholar of Korean, firstly use a word 'Hangeul' and make name of 'Hangeul'. Hangeul have accepted widely since 'Kagyanal' that is the day of celebration of our language was celebrated.

3. The scientific Latter 'Hangeul'
Do you know UNESCO give awards to those who contribute extripation of illiteracy? Also, do you know that this award's name? The name of awards is 'King Sejong'. Moreover, professor Sampson, a
prominant linguist in Britain, alleged that the Hangeul is very scientific latter. According to such facts, we know that foreign linguists also evaluate Hangeul great.
 
4. Day of Hangeul
Do you know there is a special day about Hangeul? The day is 10/9. It was designed in 1926. From this year, it become a formal holiday.

5. Nowadays.
Unfortunately, Hanguel was destroyed by use of new coinages in the Internet. Such a situation has been remarkable since 2000s. Teeen in Korean may do such a destruction when they use Hanguel in the Internet. However, this phenomenon do not fit the rules of spelling. So, you should try to use right Hangeul!

1. Asian's Wonderful Festival, 2014 Incheon Asian Games
  The 17th Asian Games will be held in Incheon at 9.19 to 10.04 on 2014 by Olympic Council of Asia. Asian Games is similar to Olympics we enjoy every four year. Like Olympics, Asian Games is held every four year. There are 38 kinds of games played during Asian Games, such as golf, basketball, judo, TAEKWONDO , swimming etc. Hundreds of players from the 45 countries located in Asia participate these games. To accomplish successful 2014 Incheon Asain Games in Incheon, Incheon is now putting a lot of efforts.
